At Exploding Kittens, I oversaw content creation on the marketing team, but I started as a Social Media Manager and we wanted to swerve left while everyone else took a right.

At Exploding Kittens, we wanted to make content that people valued and enjoyed seeing on their timelines. There are a million brands to follow on social, so why follow our little board game brand? Education, was our answer. We started by creating a few content buckets that we thought would catch people’s attention - i.e. “Your New Favorite Animal and “Space is Terrifying.” From there, we developed comic-style infographics that fit within our respective categories.

A few of my favorites:

We even wrapped up our Black Friday sale into an informational post about delayed shipping.

As a result of this content strategy switch-up we:

  • Increased reach by 40%

  • Increased impressions by 44%

  • Increased follower growth by 32%

We were also a Shorty Award Finalist and Audience Honor recipient in the ‘Games’ Category.
